David (Simon Baker) and Elaine (Frances O'Connor) are a happily married couple whose relationship has nonetheless become a bit sedate. With Elaine unready to have kids, the couple strike up a friendship with 15-year-old Chet (Gregory Smith, EVERWOOD), a motherless youth who works part-time at the local ice cream shop. But Chet's presence at the dinner table and on family vacations soon sparks sexual attraction with Elaine, prompting an uneasy romantic triangle that challenges the couple's relationship. Bryce Dallas Howard (THE VILLAGE) turns in a supporting performance as one of David's students, who harbors a crush on her teacher and offers yet another source of tension in the marriage.
